Thanks. This is more an atmosphere picture of the (very successful) parade. All vehicles could be photographed in much better conditions.

There were plenty of other vehicles that day, but I'll give the chance to other site users (who were also present in Antwerp) to be able to post photos as well.

I was back at home faster than users from, let's say, Leipzig :-)

Until the 1980s, some European countries (Belgium, France, Germany...) and quite a few cities still used the historic factory colours. Almost everywhere at the same time, including Antwerp, people started thinking about other colours.

In Antwerp, an experiment with a green tram took place: this is the only colour still missing here, but I promise to post it in this gallery soon.
https://transphoto.org/articles/6922/ The photos are in my collection, but I don't know if I've them all: many (between 4 and 6) variants were tested.

Despite frantic attempts to warm up the public with the green colours, no one was enthusiastic.
As mentioned: the same thing happened in a lot of other cities and in Germany (e.g.: Ruhr area, Köln...) the red colour was introduced.

Where exactly the inspiration came from: only the creator knows this.

For me, the colour scheme looked very familiar: not Tatras at all (different kind of red and cream at the top) but Vienna!

https://transphoto.org/photo/1734365/

Coincidence? No one knows the official version, if there ever was one. The fact is that the red colour appealed to everyone and was applied immediately.

> Personally, I found this the most beautiful color scheme.

To my eye, in these colors the PCC looks like it's Eastern European spin-off, a Tatra from the Eastern Bloc. The weed within the right-of-way shares the same opinion )) Sorry for a bit of humor ) As always, PCC is a beauty, in any colors...

An error of the driver: nobody's perfect...

https://goo.gl/maps/PTPUARtWFeEdCLJV8

The driver took the wrong direction (must immediately turn to the right) but when she saw the mistake, she just continued. This was completely wrong: in all the cases, she needs to use the backup to go back to this place. Another solution doesn't exist...

Sorry for replying in English.
I've optimised the history of this tram in the database.

https://transphoto.org/photo/1568062/
https://transphoto.org/photo/1186701/

The photos above show the other side of the same tram, once in passenger service and once was working tram.

Here too you see a similar advertisement.

Stickers, as we know them today, did not exist back then. This kind of advertising was such that it could never be removed. The procedure was broadly similar to decalcomania.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Decalcomania

So the same advertising is still present on this tram today and this must be about the only thing that still looks as nice as it did 50 years ago without requiring any maintenance...

Судя по фото в профиле осталась чуть ли не с времён линейной эксплуатации вагона.

Line 9 will go to Silsburg.
Line 4 (which now go to Silsburg) will be shortened to Berchem Station (Groenenhoek) with reduced intervals (15 min.). This will also be the case for other lines, due to the shortage of staff.

Yes, I waited for the tram for 20 minutes and then they went two in a row. Even though I knew there were a lot of people (there was an event in town) and cyclists. I tried it and it worked.

The available space is what it is. Between the tram tracks and the cycle track is a safety space.
This neighbourhood became very popular only after the reconstruction. Until a few years ago, there was neither a bicycle lane nor a tram line here.
Cycling within the city has also gained enormous popularity, also thanks to these bicycle lanes.
Now they are indeed considered as too narrow, also due to the many types of bicycles that exist nowadays. 10 years ago, when the plans were drawn up, this could not have been predicted.
Trams in Belgium fall outside the traffic regulations and therefore only have their internal regulations. There is no official speed limit.

Hm... What speed do the trams reach usually here? The bike path seems to be too close to the tram tracks, and it doesn't look so safe for the tram to drive along the crowds of cyclists. What if a cyclist suddenly comes out in front of a moving tram? A cyclist could lose his coordination for a while because of his head gets dizzy or kind of and then fall onto the track under a moving tram. It looks a little strange that there isn't a fence or a kind of a guardrail.

This is historical.

https://transphoto.org/articles/4349/

Trolleys were used until +/- 1963 (see historic photos). When they switched to pantographs, they opted to place them at the back, which roughly corresponds to the position of the contact of the trolley. This had everything to do with the electrical operation of the points via the catenary.
The advantage was that one could leave everything as it was.

Now it does not matter, and in the low-floor trams they also hang in the middle, which is very neutral in the two-way versions.

Ps the first PCC's were delivered with trolleys and not with a pantograph (also in Brussels).
